Kelly Clarkson Show Features Comic Kids!

Miami’s own, Comic Kids, featured on the Kelly Clarkson show for their work helping  kids from underserved communities learn about the arts through events and classes  drawing comic characters.

Miami, FL – January 30, 2023 – Miami-based non-profit COMIC KIDS is selected to appear  on The Kelly Clarkson Show on January 30 as the result of a nationwide search for local  charities making deep contributions to their communities.

Reed Horth and Kat Barrow-Horth are featured on the show to help promote Comic Kids’ mission to help children from underserved communities in Miami-Dade spark their creativity  and access to art through comics, cartoons, and books. Reed and Kat, the husband and  wife duo, started Comic Kids in 2018, leveraging their background in the arts as fine art  dealers.

Kelly Clarkson inquired about the origins of Comic Kids and the power of its unique  approach. During COVID, Comic Kids built an online curriculum reaching thousands of  children in after-school programs, Title 1 schools, hospitals, and summer camps. Their  approach uses the popularity of comic book characters, like the Marvel and DC heroes to  unlock the kids’ creativity while building their self-esteem, practical art, and literacy skills.

“With national exposure from the Kelly Clarkson Show, we’re excited about expanding the  number of students that Comic Kids can reach by connecting with people and resources  from Miami and across the country.” -Kat Barrow-Horth, Co-Founder, Comic Kids. As a  result of this national coverage, Comic Kids has updated its website to help draw attention  to the three top resources it needs to expand, 1. Funds to help expand their reach 2.  Professional services like public relations and digital marketing and 3. Connections to  people who can support their mission.

The Kelly Clarkson Show is the critically acclaimed, uplifting daytime destination for humor,  heart, and connection featuring Emmy Award-winning talk show host, Grammy Award winning artist, and America's original idol, Kelly Clarkson. It features a mix of celebrity guests and everyday people, performances,  games, and Kelly's unfiltered perspective on life, relationships, parenting, and things that  make her laugh along the way.
