Inspiring children to discover art through comics, cartoons, and book characters.

Our Mission:

Comic Kids believes every child deserves to have a quality art education. It is our mission to make art accessible to vulnerable communities by providing art classes, supplies, curriculum for teachers and art books to children from low-income homes, single parent households, hospitals, and foster care. Art skills are attainable through practice, so we teach children advanced drawing techniques through fun and relatable characters from comics, cartoons and books to cultivate their enthusiasm, confidence, and competence in art.

Comic Kids is a resource for teachers and afterschool programs to bring art classes, supplies, curriculum and art books to their kids.

Educators interested in learning more about bringing Comic Kids art resources to their classrooms, see “Art Books”, “Drawing & Coloring Pages” and “Videos” or reach out to us to see how we can help.

Comic Kids has taught art to children enrolled in non-profit organizations, schools and hospitals where:

80% of youth live in a home that earns less than 80% median household income.

64% of children live in single-parent households or with a non-parent adult.

Children come from homes with domestic violence, substance abuse, abandonment, sexual abuse, homelessness or foster care.

Children who have extended time in hospitals and healthcare facilities.

Art Books

Comic Kids is creating an ongoing series of coloring and step-by-step drawing books which simplify concepts, helping children discover that art skills are attainable through practice.

Art Books are intended to be an art resource for children in vulnerable communities, which we donate to after school programs, shelters, foster care and children’s hospitals.

How are Classes Taught?

Art classes are taught in-person or virtually for organizations that help children. Children watch classes via smartboards while they are in a classroom setting. Supplies are simple, just a pencil, paper and something to color with.

‘What Classes Do We Teach?

Reading + Drawing (ages 5-8) Children watch the teacher read popular books and draw the characters in the style of the illustrator.

Cartoon & Comic Drawing (ages 5-14) Children draw their favorite comic and cartoon characters from movies, tv shows, books, comics & graphic novels.

Glow-in-the-Dark Art (ages 6-14) These special-event art classes for non-profits are a fun way for children to learn to draw cartoons on glow-in-the-dark paper, with the lights off and the black lights on!

How Can Children Take Classes?

Comic Kids art classes are currently only available to participating schools and afterschool programs in Miami and are taught to students in-person or in their classrooms or centers.

If you are a school or non-profit who is interested in participating, see “Art Classes” or contact us at comickidsorg@gmail.com for details.
